OpenOffice.org 2.3 & Khmer Unicode : hang when end of line reached

As you can see from the screenshoot OpenOffice.org Presentation just hang when the type reach the end of line. Is it a bug? I hope someone could tell me what the hell is going on???!?!

AT last I got Visual Effect on my Toshiba M100

Well, I waste too much time then I needed. What I want to do is to enable Visual Effect for my new Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. The story went like this.

I was crazy try to update my ati driver manually because I believe that the instruction is clear and the version from the AMD website is more recent. However I took me a sleepless night to trail with that, in the end I decided to just use the version that Restricted Manager give me after my first boot up.

So this is how I survive:
1. Enable ATI Restricted Driver
2. > sudo apt-get intall xserver-xgl
3. Reboot my machine

I got visual effect hahaha easier than I thought and hear this "The visual effect is cool, it is even better than effect in Windows(R) Vista" and you know what? you do not need to buy new computer to try Unbuntu ;)

Alright, now I am ready to roll ;)

Running Getsy Gibbon

After return from mission at the province. First thing I did was grab the Ubuntu 7.10 "Getsy Gibbon" it took me about 6 hrs to finish downloading.

I already talk about this release in the past but to be more specific in this release i am tracking the improvement of restrict driver support:

  1. ATI X1400 - work very well although the Restricted Driver Manager allow me to download and install the proprietary driver but the version is lower than recent driver ati-driver-installer-8.41.7-x86.x86_64.run
  2. Realtek High Definition Audio (HDA) - well I still have to figure out how to enable sound
issuing command
>sudo apt-get install ttf-khmeros
download and install the package version 4.02 impressive ;)

សប្បាយចិត្តណាស់ដែលទីបំផុត ខ្ញុំក៏អាចរកឃើញ Linux ដ៏ល្ធមួយសំរាប់ប្រើ ។

Try Getsy Gibbon RC

WOW, now even ATI driver not yet enable I still can boot with live-cd and get 1280x768 cool.
And you know what I can just enable the ATI driver in Restrict driver awesome. But why do I still need to configure my Realtek HD Sound manually kind of suck :(

~EDIT~
Well, look like I got HDA work somehow. Here is how I did it:
>gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
add this line to the end of the file
options snd-hda-intel=3stack

Okay enough for the driver enable. Let see what can I do with file system.
Hey look my NTFS hard disk got display in "My Computer" and I can just read/write NTFS almost as native as ext3 ;) give Ubuntu++

What is this? well I tried to add Cambodian keyboard layout then configure keyboard layout Switch, However when I click on "Layout Options" list caption not render until I click on one of them :( is it a BUG?

Cool, cool until official release I will load Ubuntu as my secondary OS and get ready for the transition ;)
